Richard F. "Dick" Grundmeier, 87 of Wilsall, Montana passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 19, 2019Richard was born in Bemidji, Minnesota on August 26, 1931 the son of Frank and Gladys (Schue) Grundmeier.After graduating from high school at Northome, Minnesota he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served in Japan during the Korean Conflict.On April 8, 1956 Dick was united in marriage to Kathryn Elizabeth Frederking. While he and Kathy were living in Spokane, Washington he joined the Navy Reserve SeaBees. When we moved to Montana, he transferred to the Montana National Guard where he retired as 1st Sgt. He claimed he had a "smart" pencil when taking advancement tests.Dick had worked for the railroad as an electrician, just short of 40 years when he retired.He was a member of the Masons in Livingston Masonic Lodge #32 and Order of Eastern Star #11 in White Sulphur Springs.Dick is survived by his wife, Kathryn after 63 years together; a sister, Micki (Ralph, "Bud") Aakhus of Big Fork, Montana; a brother, Raymond (Judy) Grundmeier of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; his five children: Frank (Julie) Grundmeier of Helena, Montana; Kari (Tim) Ames of Bozeman, Montana ; Kevin (Cornelia) Grundmeier of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Sandra Grundmeier of Hemmingford, Nebraska; David (Stacy) of Poulsbo, Washington; five grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys.The family will host a "wake," an informal gathering on Saturday, July 27th at 10:00 AM at the Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall.
