Ronald “Ron” Lane Snyder, 78, of Livingston, Montana, died in his home Thursday, August 8, 2024. Ron was born in San Diego, CA on February 2, 1946, to the late Joseph and Frances (Foshkel) Snyder.
He was active in Boy Scouts in his youth, doing many projects and enjoying camping in the great outdoors. He served in the US Army from September 1966 to March 1969. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service during the Vietnam War.
He married the love of his life, Judith Rose, on November 15, 1969. They were blessed with one son, Steve. They spent their early years together living in San Diego, and Sacramento, CA. Eventually they made their way to Bozeman, and then Livingston, MT.
Ron served in the California Department of Justice system, working in the prison industries department. He also taught school at San Diego Tech. He then went on to design and sell Yellowstone Stoves, which provided wood heat for many homes in Montana and beyond.
Ron enjoyed many activities, such as, fishing, trail biking, hunting, hiking, and motorcycle riding.
Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy, son Steve and brothers, Jerry, Rick, Doug and Todd. Special friends, Art and Jessica Atherton, and his companion, Peanut.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N 3rd Street, Livingston, MT, on Friday, August 16, with family receiving friends from Noon to 1:00 p.m., and service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Amborn officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at the Mountain View Cemetery
