Russell Jed Funk, 66, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, in Livingston MT with his mother and son, Alex, by his side.Russ was born on July 10, 1954, in Arlington, CA. to Mary C. (Rome) Funk and Edward C. Funk. Russ attended grade school, middle school and high school in Livingston, MT. While in high school, Russ excelled in Track. He ran the 100 and 220 yard dash, and holds the record of 9.9 seconds for the 100. He was on a state champion relay team and was so proud of being involved in that activity. Russ accepted our Lord and savior in the late 1960's while attending the Nazarene church. He had a photographic memory and knew much of the bible by heart.Russ met and instantly fell in love with Susan M. Checkeye, in Everett, WA. They were married on September 22, 1979, and had 3 children; Nathan Michael Edward, Rebecca Jeanine and Alexander Samuel Funk.Russ worked at Boeing in Everett, WA. After divorcing in 2005, Russ and Susan remained friends. Russ had three areas that he loved to study; the Bible, the law and trading the markets. He enjoyed the freedom of travel and met his long time friend, Jim Riley, of Enumclaw, WA, who helped him out a lot during the past few years. Russell is survived by his mother, Mary C. Funk; sister, Kathleen M. (John) Mulligan; Susan (Checkeye) Funk; children Nathan Michael Edward, Rebecca Jeanine (Chuck) Weiler, and Alexander Samuel Funk; and uncles and cousins.Russ was preceded in death by his dad, Edward C. Funk; sister, Colleen Susan Scharf; brother, Michael Lester Funk; and nephew David Alexander Funk. A memorial to honor Russ will be held at Sacajawea Park in Livingston, MT, at a later date.Romans 14:8 - "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.
