Russell Allen Robinson, 59, of Wilsall, fought the hard battle against leukemia, but could no longer fight, and on March 16, 2015 passed away at the Livingston Memorial Hospital. A Funeral service will be held at the American Lutheran Church on F and Lewis Streets, Livingston, Montana, on March 20th at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Sedan Cemetery directly following the service. A luncheon will be served at the Shields Valley Elementary School multi-purpose room after the burial. Russ was born to Charley and Frances (Shelhamer) Robinson on November 23, 1955 in Livingston, Montana. He spent all of his life at their ranch at Sedan, Montana. He attended Sedan Country school in his early years, going to Wilsall School as a 7th grader, and graduated from Wilsall High school in 1973. Russ attended Northern Montana College at Havre for one year where he played basketball. On September 28, 1974, he married Cheryl Lovely in Livingston, Montana. They resided and spent their married life on the ranch in Sedan, raising two wonderful children. Jaime (Levi) Nelson and Eric (Juliana) Robinson. They were blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, Kathryn and Mackinley Nelson and Abigail and Acesa Robinson. Russ loved hunting and was fortunate enough to help his brother-in-law, Slim Keefer for a number of years. There, he made many, many lifelong friends. He also found a new love for pheasant hunting recently. He spent many days cooking barbeques with the "Butcher and the Russler". Russ loved watching a variety of sporting events and was always an avid community supporter. He never met a stranger. His true love was his ranch, and the ranch work. He devoted his life to it. Russ was president of the Wilsall Rodeo Association, President of the Shields Valley Stockyards, and a member of the Park County Stock growers. He also served as a board member for the Shields Valley Schools. Russ is survived by his wife of 40 years Cheryl; his mother Frances; his sister, Shirley (Jerry) Olson; daughter Jaime (Levi) Nelson, Kathryn and Mackinley; son, Eric (Juliana) Robinson, Abigail and Acesa all of Wilsall; Tami Keefer of Clyde Park, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, Wendell Lovely, Jan French and Larry and Val Lovely. He was preceded in death by his father, Charley, his sister, Sharon Keefer, and in-laws Slim Keefer, Norma Lovely and Kelly French.
