He attended St. Marys Parochial School through fourth grade, then the East Side School for fifth grade, Sleeping Giant Middle School for sixth through eighth and graduated from Park High School the class of 2003. Always a strong soul, Shad wrestled through grad school, high school making appearances at the state tournaments and wrestled club league following school. He also wrestled with the Blitzkrieg Club and assisted coaching the team as well. He boxed Club League having a 19-2 record, selling out every match he fought in. Growing up Shad always loved to be outdoors doing what his brothers and dad were doing. He learned to hunt from them and ride dirt bikes. In fact, Shad could ride his YZ before he rode a peddle bike. Shad worked for Riccis Thriftway, Green Again Sprinklers, Ry Lumber and Nardella Mobile Repair and Welding as high school jobs and after graduation. On February 26, 2005 Shad enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served two tours of duty in Iraq. During his first deployment he served as a metal worker, welder, driver and mechanic. During his time overseas he was injured losing his left thumb. After his first four years Shad reenlisted, this time in the Infantry in a designated imminent danger pay area. He served four more years. For his efforts serving he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge and the Special Equipment Operator Clasp. On February 25th, 2013 Shad was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to Livingston. Shad a deep belief and a profound honor in his service to his country. He loved the Army and the brothers he served alongside of. After returning home he again worked a short time for Nardella Mobile Welding; Jim, his employer, had mentioned how strong and how hard of a worker Shad was, he was a great asset to their team. He then took employment with National Exploration, Wells and Pumps. He worked as an exploration driller all over the country. He worked his hardest with every task he took on. He was smart and meticulous in all that he did. He loved to weld and thought that opening his own welding shop maybe something that he would take up in his military retirement. He loved his truck and his best friend, and loyal four legged companion, Kammy. He had a soft spot for kids of all ages and had a reputation to be known as Uncle Shad. When Shad had returned from his second stint overseas, he returned having experienced more than most men twice his age. The realities of war had taken their toll. Shad kept his feelings held close never wanting to worry his family. Shad we are so proud of your accomplishments, we cherish the love and amazing memories we have shared; you are with us always and forever in our hearts.
