Sharon Gail Polillo

October 1, 1938 — May 29, 2016

Sharon Gail (Van Gilder) Polillo, 77, of Smith Creek, Meagher County, Montana. Sharon passed away suddenly of natural causes on Sunday, May 29th, 2016 at her home. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory, per Sharons wishes a formal funeral will not be held. Sharon was born on October 1st, 1938 in Coeur dAlene, Idaho. She was the daughter of Herbert and Catherine (Lewis) Van Gilder. She was raised in Clyde Park and was a graduate of the Clyde Park High School, now known as Shields Valley High School, Class of 1957. Following her graduation she met the love of her life and on July 2nd, 1960, Sharon Van Gilder was united in marriage to Phil Polillo, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Livingston. This marriage was blessed with two children, Shelly and Roger. Phil and Sharon resided in Livingston most of their lives. Their hearts were always with the cabin they had kept since 1974. Every weekend they packed the family up and took off to "Gods Country". They later moved to their family cabin north of Wilsall on the Smith Creek and Goat Creek area following their retirement in 1997. They shared 54 years of marriage prior to Phils passing on December 13th, 2014. Sharon was employed at Jet Cleaners as a Steam Press Operator and Dry Cleaner, she did a little bit of anything and everything that needed to be done, as well. She retired in 1997. Sharon and Phil were members of Elks Lodge and the Big Sky Snowmobile Club. Her soul was always in the hills. She was one of a kind, and a real "Mountain Woman". She invited friends and family up to the Smith Creek place, for get-togethers, meals, but not hunting. She had a heard of just about every critter you can think of coming around as she had feed out for them all. Please bring some venison steaks up but make sure that they come from someone elses land She was up and at em at 5 a.m. every morning and when going for a hike with the grandkids she was not afraid to leave them in the dust. Those grandkids were her pride and joy and her fortune in life. She cherished any time spent with her family, grandchildren and friends. We are blessed to have the memories we do. We love you Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma. Sharon is survived by her: Daughter, Shelly Bailey and her husband Todd of Livingston.
