Our family lost a pillar on Monday, September 6th, 2021, when Tomas Antonio Ortiz, favorably known as Tio Toño, passed away. Tomas is survived by his son, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tomas was born on May 20th, 1944, in the city of Santa Tecla, from the state of La Libertad, in his native country of El Salvador. He moved to the United States in 1978 where he spent 29 years in Los Angeles, California, working as a Tailor. After raising his kids, Maria, Gloria, Ernie, and Patti, he played an instrumental part in raising all his grandchildren. In his later years, he became a resident of Livingston, Montana, where he relocated with his daughter, Patti, and her husband, Chris Coddington. Tomas enjoyed fishing, listening to music, cycling, gardening, and do it yourself projects. Understanding the importance of family, he always ensured that we spent time together while cooking homemade pupusas and other Salvadorean plates. His loving and joyful soul was also shared with animals over the years. Known to be a zoophilist at heart, he is also survived by his parakeets and dog, Babas.A funeral mass for Tomas will be held Tuesday, September 14, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
