William "Bill" Raney, 93, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Thursday, December 30th, 2021. He was born March 28, 1928, in Monon, Indiana, the oldest of six boys, to Wilbur and Estella Raney. They moved to Livingston when Bill was a young boy. He married Dorothy Hillman on September 19, 1948, and to that union were born three children; daughter Diana in 1949, a son in 1952, and daughter Doreen in 1954. William and his family lived in Plentywood, Montana, where he worked as a mailman and a projection operator at the local theatre. In 1960, they moved back to Livingston where he worked at New Way Market as a butcher and clerk. He also laid carpet for Sumner Flooring . Then, in the late ‘60s, William went to work at Wilcoxson's Ice Cream, making the ice cream. He was a Livingston City Volunteer Firefighter for many years, and helped fight three of the major fires in downtown Livingston. After retiring from Wilcoxson's, he became a security guard at Chico Hot Springs, and even worked security on the movie "A River Runs Through It". After fully retiring, he took up punch embroidery and hook rug making. William was a Mason and Shriner, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. William is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Glen, Allen, and LaMoyne; and one great-granddaughter. William is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy; his daughters, Diana (Patrick) McClain, of Waldport, OR, and Doreen (John) Kalien, of Livingston, and a son; his brothers, Jim Raney, of Proser, WA, and Bob Raney, of Livingston; grandchildren Kirk McClain, of Livingston, Kristine (Neal) Hubert, of Aroma Park, IL, Tonya (Shawn) Baumann, of Graham, WA, Traci (Levi Young) Kalien, of Helena, MT, and Tami (Andy) Payne, of Livingston; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. As per Williams wishes, there will be no services. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
